An extremely relatable subject matter on a track with a Top 40 crossover vibe, Jolene gives a melding of throwback R&B with modern vocal styles, evoking NAO’s “Adore You” in the production and a mixture of Ariana Grande and Alessia Cara in the vocal. And speaking of vocals, Jolene is a powerhouse, strong and emotive, tossed into a cavernous verb that turns this into quite a BIG song. We’d love to hear this record live in concert.
