On “girl of your dreams”, Mara delivers yet another sharp and plucky pop confection with collaborator JB Thomas. There’s always a sweetness to Mara’s tracks—a cute innocence—as her tuned soprano slices through a tight production. There’s almost a Japanese pop feeling to her tracks, with a 90s electro-pop tinge. “girl of your dreams” explores the shock of unexpected affection from someone who barely knows her, someone conjuring a perfect image of her based on minor interactions. It’s not quite a love song, more of a contemplation on infatuation from the point of view of the target—something we found to be quite unique.
